Tina Aswani-Omprakash, Madhura Balasubramaniam, and Dr Anjali Pandit came together with Dr. Tiffany Taft, Josie McGarva, Dr. Ece Mutlu and Dr. Stephen Hanauer to study the incidence of Post-Traumatic Stress (PTS) in IBD patients of South East Asian and South Asian origin. It found that South Asian and South East Asian IBD patients are five times more likely to experience PTS due to IBD as compared to white, non-Hispanic patients. This study calls for culturally informed multidisciplinary care to be made accessible to all IBD patients.
