Are you a caregiver for an IBD patient? Are you an IBD patient who is also a caregiver? If so, this event is for you!!
This National Family Caregivers Month, SAIA’s Patient Advocacy arm, IBDesis, in collaboration with Improve Care Now, is excited to organize a virtual meet up of our South Asian IBD community!
We invite all members of our community to join us for a free-flowing conversation about being Caregivers for IBD patients, the challenges of understanding the condition as well as being caregivers whilst living with IBD. These are incredibly challenging roles to navigate and we want to reassure every member of our community that you are not alone
We at SAIA are truly committed to a meaningful patient-clinician collaboration. To move beyond the clinician-patient hierarchy and foster conversations, we are bringing together an amazing team of doctors and patients to lead this conversation
Our team includes:
- Dr. Shehzad Saeed, Associate Chief Medical Officer at Dayton Children’s Hospital, Clinical Director at Improve Care Now and caregiver for a #Crohns patient
- Dr. Sabina Ali, Medical Director of the IBD Program at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital, Board of Directors of South Asian IBD Alliance and Improve Care Now & patient living with #ulcerativecolitis
The conversation will be moderated by:
- Sharan Khela, Crohn’s Patient Advocate from the UK & Board of Directors of South Asian IBD Alliance
We hope this event helps us feel more supported, less alone in our #caregiving journeys and brings us all together as a community! After all, we cannot pour from an empty cup and it is vital that we take care of ourselves and our needs as caregivers.
We look forward to meeting you all!
