SAIA patient leader Tina Aswani-Omprakash collaborated with Dr. Tiffany Taft to review a study led by the IBD Emerging Nations Consortium on the prevalence of caregiver burden of IBD & its impact on mental health among Asians. In the invited editorial, Tina and Dr. Taft highlight key barriers that caregivers face in accessing mental health care and social support, including the role of pervasive cultural stigma & other unique psychosocial factors. They also highlight the efficacy of brain-gut behavioral therapies for IBD patients and how these strategies may alleviate caregiver burden.
